After spending the week at the Presidents Cup at the beautiful Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne Australia, I have a feeling The Tiger is soon to be unleashed. I followed him on the practice rounds and watched a couple of the practice sessions on the range and he is starting to look comfortable again. I am by no means saying that we will ever get the Tiger Woods of old back but I think he will start winning again very soon. The first day he was paired with Steve Stricker in the 4 ball, they went against Adam Scott and KJ Choi. There was a lot of build up for this event being that the trash talking, back stabbing ex caddy of Tiger, Steve Williams is now on Adam Scott’s bag. The course was playing very tough and the greens were next to impossible to hold, so the fact that Tiger is still a bit rusty showed under the conditions. KJ and Scott waxed Tiger and Stricker and took them out after 12 holes. As the week at the Presidents Cup went on Tiger’s game started to come alive. His tee shots were actually staying on the course and once Steve Stricker noticed something with Woods putting stroke putts started to drop again. The last tournament of the year happens to be Tiger’s event, The Chevron World Challenge at Sherwood CC in Southern California. We will see what progress he has made since the President’s Cup, don’t be surprised if he finishes in the top 5 and has a chance to win on Sunday.
I know many say that if you believe in karma Tiger has a long road back. I personally agree, he has a lot of changes to make, I have seen Tiger multiple times blow off lines of kids that were waiting of hours for his autograph, that alone is enough for him to shank every shot he hits for the rest of his life. That fact that someone thinks his golf game is that important is mind blowing. Yes he brings a lot to the game and his dominance was second to only one but come on, spend twenty minutes after your round and sign the kids autographs. Yah and he should have not gotten married unless he was in a society that finds it acceptable to have a hundred girl friends and your wife knows about it, but I think that went out with the Samurai/Shogun era in the 18th century.
Besides all of the personal stuff the facts are he has game and lots of it. A close friend of mine Carl Welty who is one of the best instructors in the world and the best in studying video has evidence that Tiger’s old form is back to where it was when he was dominating the game. That only means one thing, the golfers on the PGA Tour better start looking behind them because a hungry and irritated Tiger is ready to attack. The 2012 PGA Tour season is right around the corner, if Tiger is on his way back it will make for a very action packed season.
